Life drawing - drawn from observation.
I've always been very interested in the paintings of Oskar Shlemmer, who drew people in ways so simple a geometric, it made them look more like abstract statues than breathing creatures. When life drawing I often forget that the people in front of me are alive, and simplify their form into shapes that come together something like a body. Ideally, the images come out as cold a lifeless, but bold and statuesque.
