Experiments in Selective Focus Photography

I just got a new lens made by an independent photographer and lens maker.

For those not familiar with photographic terminology, is basically a lens that makes things look blurry but cool.

For those who are, it has a soft focus and selective focus mode (the latter of which was used in these photos) but the main advantage is that I can add custom apertures to it, which is how I got the unique bokeh and background. These are taken with an x shaped aperture, but I hope to make and experiment with others soon.

The glow on people's faces is beautiful, but the way it captures hair is amazing.

The lens flair can be amazing though.

Go to my Flickr page to see a few more of these in higher quality, and definitely check out Johnny Optic, who made the lens.
