Abstract Digital Art 5 - Layers

I'm experimenting with a new technique for my abstract digital artwork that involves the use of more layers containing different textures. Before I was using abstract charcoal drawings to create images, but this one uses overlapping layers of coloured pencil.

It allows me to use a wider colour pallet and create more complex and nuanced images, but it also makes the lines and shapes I draw much less smooth and flowing. Perhaps I'll try to embrace the rough quality of the pencils for my next set of abstract digital creations.

Digital Portrait 1

A lot of the time when people draw a face, they concentrate on perfecting the features. In this piece, I decide to just try to capture the shape and shading of the face, ignoring the features as much as possible. The effect is quite ghostly, a face with no eyes, but I think this is something I will definitely do more of in future.
